It was the Lycoming County Prison. The original building was constructed between 1799 and 1801. In 1867, a fire damage the jail and it was torn down. A new prison was erected on the same site and completed in 1868. The jail contained nearly 50 cells and could accommodate up to 100 prisoners. It remained an active prison until 1982, when it was closed due to overcrowding. Over the next few decades, the building went through several different owners. Finally, in September of 2001 it was reopened as "The Cell Block". The integrity of the prison remains in tack, creating a truly unique atmosphere for our establishment.
